EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ENJOY THE VARIETY OF MUSICAL TALENT AT JEFFERSON JAY’S 24 HOURS OF FREE MUSIC. THIS IS A FREE EVENT, OPEN TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, 2AM-2AM ON JUNE 28 IN OCEAN BEACH, SAN DIEGO.
Ocean Beach, CA -- As if the OB street fair isn’t good enough reason to head over to Ocean Beach on a summer Saturday, here’s another good motive:
24 hours of free music.
Some music lovers will break the law to get a few minutes of free music. On June 28, you don’t have to. Jefferson Jay’s 24 Hours of Free Music event will feature 70 musicians from all genres -- rock, pop, jazz, hip-hop, acoustic songwriters, and more -- with something for every taste.
The show begins at 2AM on Saturday, June 28 and ends with a jam session at 2AM on Sunday morning, May 29. This one-of-a-kind music marathon will showcase a diverse array of unique personalities, local talent, and musical styles -- including blues, country, alternative, funk, folk, rock ‘n’ roll, world music, pop, jazz, and hip-hop.
With an incredible breadth of performers, a round-the-clock schedule, and an inclusive environment -- this is going to be an experience unparalleled in San Diego County.
“With the quality of artists we’ve assembled, I am confident everyone will find a new favorite musician to enjoy right here in town,” said event organizer Jefferson Jay. “We’ve got a strong lineup of diverse music all day long for FREE. How can anyone argue with that?” And the schedule is prolonged enough to outlast even the most lengthy of work shifts, so there’s no good reason to miss out.
Artists scheduled to perform include Sene Africa, Jefferson Jay Band, Destructo Bunny, Mary Dolan, Cory Wilkins Band, Hugh Gaskins, Robin Lee, Rob Deez, Wes Davis, Justin Mills, Don Truesdail, Melissa Eisler, Philly B, Jillian Doty, Clifford, Alan Silva, Bunny B. Brown, Jesse Johnson, The Chimney Fish, (E)MiNDS, Richard Romero, Doug McCarron, Blowski, Chuck Walker Trio, Paul Yancey Trio, Eric Weiss, Rick Felan, Jason Burleson, Beer Money, Soulicious, Jack Davidson, Jeff Dewine, Steve Keaney, Marty Cowles, Mac Mac, and Red Sonya & Friends.
24 Hours will bring together musicians and audiences who usually enjoy their music in different places and ways. Players and fans of the coffeehouse, rock, and dance scenes who don’t always get to interact, will make new friends and discover new music together from 2AM to sunrise, to 2AM again.
“We want everybody to be included. Our goal is to build rapport between local musicians and the greater community,” said event organizer and founder Jefferson Jay, who also is a music teacher in San Diego.
So head over to Portugalia, located at 4839 Newport Ave. in Ocean Beach, for this original event. Music will begin on Saturday at 2 a.m. (also known as Friday night) and play until 2 a.m. Sunday morning (a.k.a. Saturday night) during the 29th Annual OB Street Fair on June 28. Arrive early and stay late at Jefferson Jay's 24 Hours of Free Music.
